One writing technique I use to get rid of writers block and to talk about moments in my life is to journal creatively. Instead of using the basic 'Dear Diary' format, talking about the moment you're in, or thoughts you have but in a short-story descriptive way can help get rid of writer's block and get me writing in a creative way again. I can then go back and rework these pieces, or use fragments in other writing, especially when writing characters' thoughts or feelings, or a scene from their point of view.
